March 20th, 2019 marks ‘World Oral Health Day’, and this year’s theme is all about taking care of your oral health to protect your mouth and body.

It’s never too early or too late to start looking after your oral health.

So, act today to keep a healthy mouth through life:

How to take good care of your oral health:

Brush daily and properly

Brush your teeth for two minutes twice daily with a fluoride toothpaste to help reduce your risk of tooth decay and gum disease. Brush in a circular motion with either a manual or electric toothbrush.

Eat a balanced diet

Eating a healthy diet, particularly one low in sugar, avoid tobacco use and excessive alcohol consumption.

Don’t skip flossing

Regular cleaning between teeth helps to dislodge food and may also reduce gum disease and bad breath by removing plaque that forms along the gum line.

Have a regular dental check-up

Be sure to schedule your check-ups and cleans with your dentist. They can also advise on how regularly you need to book an appointment, depending on your specific needs.

Just like other major diseases, prevention, early detection and treatment are key to ensuring the best outcomes and reducing the risk for oral diseases and associated health complications.

If you ‘Act on Mouth Health’ it will also have a positive impact on your general health and well-being.

It’s never too early or too late to start looking after your oral health. Say Ahh today!
